Class Updates
We are steaming right ahead in U.S. History! We have finished our lessons about the Civil War, and now we are learning about how the nation tried to rebuild after those four war-torn years. There will be a Civil War TEST in the very near future!
In Religion we finished Chapter 2...we learned all about the Books of the Old Testament and the way in which the Bible is organized. Next week we will reading Chapter 3 and discussing all of God's Creation. Just to note, there will be a weekly quiz in Religion, and after every 4 chapters, there will be a Unit Test.

U.S. History & Religion - Mrs. Welsh
U.S. HistoryThis year we are going to pick up where we left off!
As we begin the school year, we will revisit some of the topics we studied last year. Students will use research and artifacts to present a refresher course to their classmates that will bring us up to Imperialism and the Spanish-American War. From there, we will begin our work learning about the history of the 20th century. |
ReligionWe will be using the Christ Our Life text In sixth grade. These first weeks we will be learning how the Bible reveals God's saving love, and focusing on how we come to know God and Jesus through Scripture, specifically through the Old Testament.

Grading
My grading policies are pretty simple: the work is due on the assigned date. If it is not handed in, it lives in Sycamore as a zero until it is submitted. Homework assignments have a bit more leniency than a project or a test. Projects that have been assigned with clearly communicated details, deadlines and rubrics are expected on the due date; it's difficult to rationalize why a project is 'forgotten' when everything is discussed in class and available on Google Classroom. Tests may not be retaken. I do not assign extra credit.
